Nov. 12 Check In

Check in for the week....

First of on this Veteran's Day weekend, thank you to all of the service men and women who selfishly protect our Country and way of life.

Get excited but not in training mode yet.... So as they say, we got the band back together.  Our little running group has kept our group chat going but we recently got excited about sharing our training again on the blog.  Most of us are training for a spring event - almost all of us are trying to "get back to it".   Life is busy.  No excuse, it just is.  Discipline is something I am talking about over on my journal page.    Right now we are starting to think about plans for our training programs and we are trying to stay active and moving.   So here is a recap......

Jenn.... Started posting on her Instragram page again called the My-NonDiet-Life .   You can find a link to her Insta page on the left hand column of this blog.  She is working on accomplishing the items on this list over the next four weeks.  She also has a super cute puppy that keeps her busy (and of course kiddos with busy schedules too).

Libby...... She has been sitting in a deer standing in Minnesota this week but has not gotten a deer.  She has seen Turkeys and fall weather, but no deer in the freezer yet.  She also had some fun at the Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks concert at the US Bank Stadium.

Liz...  She got some work outs in this week including some time at the indoor Fieldhouse and at home on her own.   The most exciting news for her this week was her daughter Cassidy signing her intent to play Volleyball at the College of St. Scholastica and to major in nursing.  YES!

Lou and Sara...  They always have a busy house.  Lou did get his deer this week and in a fun post in our group chat, Sara shared that Lou is trying ice baths again.  I mean I can almost year him just by his face, LOL.

Carrie..... And then me, these are the hard weeks for me.  I had to travel to Duluth to be on campus for nursing lab.  It is hard to get workouts in with those busy travel days.  I did good at the start of the week.  Intentions remained good through the rest of the week but then my little guy got sick and was up all night coughing.  This mamma does NOT do good on low sleep.  In other fun things this week.... my dad came over for the Vikings game and SKOL... we won :)

Be sure to check out our group challenge page on the left hand tab.  Have a good week!

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain" - Lessons learned from the Wizard of Oz • Nicola Taylor Photographer   Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.” We are “Kids First,” and we are accountable to no one! — DougCo Collective

As the Wizard of Oz saying goes, "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain".  Or in this case, pay no attention to our February post that says we are back.  We weren't.  But WE ARE NOW!  Collectively we have been in a running funk to say the least.  No reason to look back - only forward.   Check out the left hand column of this blog under running buddies.  You will find the group of us who are Grandma's marathon enthusiasts.  We love this race and this weekend. Check out each of our 2024 goals.   We have......

  • Jenn running the full
  • Carrie, Sara. and Libby running the half
  • Louis becoming the team cheerleader and running the 5K
  • Liz training but also focused on her high school daughter
  • Michelle - we haven't forgotten about you, heal up already!
  • And Wendy always in our hearts.

We know this is not a well read blog - but for us, it is a thread to keep us talking each week.  It keeps us motivated.  It keeps it fun.  And more importantly, I hope it keeps us disciplined.  Training gets long.  Like everyone else in the running world, we have kids, jobs. spouses. college, and overall busy lives.   This training season - which we are officially starting today on November 1st - we are here to support each other to get to the start line and then to cross the finish line.  While the training plan won't start until 12 or 16 weeks out (depends on your plan) - we are starting now to engage with each other and to have some fun along the way.   Check us out from time to time, we are a fun bunch!
