Where have I been all summer? I
am still here and still running. Some of my photos are posted on Instagram at long_run_calybeal The big news is........
Best Running Update Ever. I am so excited to share our fall running plans. Our dear running friend Wendy who passed away last October always enjoyed running Whistlestop (view her bio on the left column). It was her favorite race - woods and solace. The past year just hasn't been the same running without her. We think about her more when we run, we connect with her. We are so excited that this Whistlestop, we will be running with her daughter Emma. We have her all registered and will be working with the Ashland Chamber of Commerce to facilitate the race start. Emma is so excited. We have been able to get Emma out for a few training runs and she always smiles, and always talks about her mom. The first time we had her out she said to Liz and I, "you need to work on conversation pace". Emma clearly listened to her mom's passion for running! It was funny and motivating all at the same time.
13.1 miles on the corridor pushing Emma in her wheelchair stroller will certainly be a challenge but we are up for it. Wendy would be so happy. My original running plan was to run back-to-back half marathon's this fall but I have switched gears a bit with my training plan because I want to be strong enough to finish the race with Emma. We have been cross training some including running hills and stairs to prepare for pushing the stroller. Check back here later for more updates (my facebook page also keeps our running adventures up-to-date!)
